You will receive God's best!

Has a treacherous storm ever forcefully blown through your world? Did it leave you in shambles and feeling as if your life had completely fallen apart? Have you ever looked at the wreckage and ruins and thought that the damage was irreparable? Have you been in a position where you lost security and stability—the very things you thought you needed to make it through?

If so, God sent me to give you this New Year’s Day word and assure you that it’s not over, friend. God has declared good things over you. He is turning your worst days into your best days so that all will see and know that the hand of the Lord is mighty.

A few days ago, God told me to go to Jeremiah 18 because there was a word that He wanted to unpack for me. This chapter contains a familiar story that I have read numerous times about a potter molding clay on his wheel.

God directed my attention specifically to verses 2-6, where He spoke these words to Jeremiah the Prophet:

“Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.”  So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.

Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel” (NIV).

As soon as I finished reading the text, God spoke to me and asked this question: “Dianna, do you trust Me to make something good?”

The Lord then walked me back through my 2019 health crisis that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. He reminded me of how the new difficulties I faced left me feeling marred or ruined just like the clay on the potter’s wheel in Jeremiah 18. Defeat said, “You are irreparably broken, destroyed, and unable to be used for God’s glory.”

On my worst days, I believed the lies and sank into depression. But through His word, God led me to a new realization and revelation. God the Potter has been reforming me, reshaping me— the marred lump of clay—into something even more amazing and beautiful.

God then directed my attention to Jeremiah 18:4, a verse which notes that the potter refashioned the clay into what “seemed best to him.”

God then asked me another question: “Is My best not good enough?”

Whew!

That question hit me hard. Instantly I felt simultaneously convicted and enlightened. I realized that I had been mourning for nothing. Despite my plans being marred, God’s good plans for me are not ruined. They are still very much intact.

This is true in my life and yours.

Listen, friend. Negative life changes do not change the fact that you remain in the unchanging hands of the Father whose plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). Through it all, He is molding you into what seems best to Him.

Now ask yourself this question: is anything better than God’s best?

Clearly the answer is no, right?

Therefore, you can be confident that because you are on the Potter’s Wheel, meaning that you are in the center of the Father’s will, something good is happening. You are not ruined; you are being remolded, restored, renewed, and rebuilt by the powerful hands of Almighty God.

Now that’s something to get excited about!
